I am looking to do two things (well, in addition to the other things my pi zero is doing) I am trying to monitor the voltage of a couple of 12v batteries (individually) and also monitor to see if the 120v line current is also live (I don't care to measure it, just check to see if it is live or not).

This is to be hardwired into a sailboat to check on (and eventually publish to the web, the battery voltage (and warn if it is getting low ie: not charging), also to monitor an alert me if the 120v shore power fails, is disconnected etc....

If possible I would like to do the voltage readings over i2c using a module avail.

For the 120v monitor, I was thinking of using an optocoupler to completely isolate the circuit from the 120v AC.... any suggestions....

Thanks in advance,

Mike
