Raspberry Pi OS • Chromium Customization on RPI using Pi-Gen

Hello everyone!

I'm using pi-gen to create a custom setup, and I was wondering if anyone has any advice/insight into best ways to pre-customize Chromium.

Here are the tasks that I'm still working on accomplishing:
1. Pre-install a chromium extension. I've been working through the different files that exist in `/home/PI_USER/.config/chromium` but have yet to successfully be able to install the extension. The closest attempt I've had is replacing `/home/PI_USER/.config/chromium/Default` entirely with that folder that exists on a pi with chromium manually set up; however, this had inconsistent results.

2. Pre-set certain permissions for websites to access things (ex. allowing copy/paste on certain sites) that exist in the chromium settings.

3. When my image is generated through pi-gen, on first boot, the .config folder is owned by root instead my PI_USER; as a result, I cannot modify that .config/chromium folder until after I have `chmod`'ed the file.

For any of these issues, has anyone encountered success? Any documentation pointers (I am having trouble knowing where to look for things like this)? Do any of these seem infeasible and I should plan to do manually?

The places I've been looking:
https://www.chromium.org/developers/ (except unfortuantely https://chromium.googlesource.com/chrom ... lopment.md came up with a NOT FOUND error)
https://github.com/RPi-Distro/pi-gen

https://github.com/RPi-Distro/chromium

Thank you in advance for any insight!
