Graphics, sound and multimedia • Anchoring Screen with CRT Display

Okay, bear with me if I'm not asking this question in the right place, but I'm new to the Raspberry Pi.

I'm using a Pi 5 connected to a 13" Sony CRT TV via an HDMI to RCA converter to just set up a way to loop a bunch of old surf films to keep me entertained while I work from home. Call it a throwback to visiting surf shops in my youth.

I've only tested and fiddled with it for a couple hours at this point, but I currently have the screen resolution set to 720x480 (NTSC standard, from what I understand) and the desktop (taskbar, icons on the left side of the screen, etc) are all stretched just a little past the edge of the display.

I can deal with it a little bit, but wanted to find out if I can tell the display to anchor itself at the upper left corner? I guess, set that as 0,0 in terms of X and Y so that I can see the taskbar and my icons clearly.

It's a 4GB Pi 5, running stock Pi OS (ran rpi-update yesterday, so that's all current). Using VLC media player to play the video files. And I've read a bunch of threads on here with respect to CRT TVs as displays and it sounds like the Pi 5 isn't as flexible with them as earlier models.

Like I said, I can deal with a little bit of stuff past the edge of the display, but I'd really like to anchor that upper left corner of the screen.
