Troubleshooting • Chromium not hardware accelerated

Hello Everyone,

I saw a post where switching on Vulkan improved YouTube Playback in Chromium this turned out to lead to a rabbit hole where my chromium is misconfigured.

We have a Raspberry Pi 5 8GB with all Official accessories save the Argon One Case. So keyboard mouse power supply and SD Card are all official. I'm running fully updated Raspberry Pi OS 64 bit Bookworm.

What have I tried. I did the apt purge chromium and reinstalled via the Recommend Software tool. this did nothing chromium ran the same.

Code:

Graphics Feature Status=======================* Canvas: Software only, hardware acceleration unavailable* Direct Rendering Display Compositor: Disabled* Compositing: Software only. Hardware acceleration disabled* Multiple Raster Threads: Enabled* OpenGL: Disabled* Rasterization: Software only. Hardware acceleration disabled* Raw Draw: Disabled* Skia Graphite: Disabled* TreesInViz: Disabled* Video Decode: Software only. Hardware acceleration disabled* Video Encode: Software only. Hardware acceleration disabled* Vulkan: Disabled* WebGL: Software only, hardware acceleration unavailable* WebGL2: Software only, hardware acceleration unavailable* WebGPU: Disabled* WebNN: Software only, hardware acceleration unavailable
The other thing I tried was to remove the ~/.config/chromium folder that changes things

Code:

Graphics Feature Status=======================* Canvas: Hardware accelerated* Direct Rendering Display Compositor: Disabled* Compositing: Hardware accelerated* Multiple Raster Threads: Enabled* OpenGL: Enabled* Rasterization: Hardware accelerated on all pages* Raw Draw: Disabled* Skia Graphite: Disabled* TreesInViz: Disabled* Video Decode: Hardware accelerated* Video Encode: Software only. Hardware acceleration disabled* Vulkan: Enabled* WebGL: Hardware accelerated* WebGL2: Hardware accelerated* WebGPU: Disabled* WebNN: Disabled
I've been testing with the https://webglsamples.org/dynamic-cubema ... bemap.html
Current set up I get 10 fps
No .config/chromium Doesn't work at all
Same test on firefox I get 60 fps

So I have to get into the chromium folder and change something but what? I don't want to loose all my bookmarks, saved credentials, ect.

There has to be a way to fix this properly, No?

This is the start of the journey for context viewtopic.php?p=2327230#p2326407

Any help would be appreciated
