General discussion • RPi 4 improving performance and battery runtime?

I've been using the Raspberry Pi 4, 8 GB, with the Touch Display 2, and a 5,000 mAh UPS hat (the PiSugar 3 Plus). It's running Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit from a 64 GB Samsung microSD card.

I find, using browser Firefox on a site like Reddit, or even these forums, it is quite slow to load pages, and even to scroll a loaded page. Quite a bit slower than the same sites on my phone. I'm interested in understanding why, and hopefully improving performance.

When I run btop, it doesn't seem like CPU usage is the bottleneck. And I'd hope that the browser has everything it needs off the microSD card, so that wouldn't be the bottleneck either.

What should I try to diagnose further, or to see if it improves my experience? Would trying to use mobile sites be better?

Same question really for battery life. What should I try to configure to increase runtime? E.g. turn off Bluetooth or even Wi-Fi if possible, but can I turn off more? Like HDMI or Ethernet? Or USB? Or would the PMIC and firmware already be doing that behind the scenes?

Any links to guides for squeezing the most performance, and/or battery life, out of the Raspberry Pi 4? Much appreciated.
