I am developing a Raspberry Pi-based clock & weather station that I will give to a friend. My problem is that once I move it out of my house, he will have no way to configure the WiFi (ethernet is not an option for him). I found viewtopic.php?t=329963 to be hopeful since it addresses the very problem I'm facing. Unfortunately, that 2020 information has changed. The documentation at https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentati ... spberry-pi contains this note:

What is the 2026 method of changing WiFi credentials when no other network type is available?
Previous versions of Raspberry Pi OS made use of a wpa_supplicant.conf file, which could be placed into the boot folder to configure wireless network settings. This functionality isn’t available from Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm onwards.
