Troubleshooting • PI 5 Red light

Hi im completely new to the pi verse i was given a pi 5 from a family member as they didn't use it anymore i was hoping to turn it into a solid state NAS

when i plugged the PSU in i got a solid red light on the pi but no image appeared on the monitor no signs of any green light on the pi at any point

ive looked through these forums and seen this is somewhat of a common issue and just wanted to know if anyone has managed to find a cure for this

List of things tried:
booted with nothing attached bar PSU and HDMI
tested multiple HDMI cables / SD cards and monitors
using the official 45w PSU
i HAVE pressed the power button multiple times each time i tested
reflashing the EEPROM
multiple OS tested normal / full / lite

if anyone has any suggestions they would be very appreciated
