Hi all,
Sorry if I'm in the wrong thread. I've recently upgraded my 10 year old raspberry pi 3b+ with official touchscreen and iqaudio digiamp+. Its powered by a 19v 3.42A psu powered through the digiamp+ only. This set up worked perfectly apart from max volume sound would clip on some songs, i was guessing my old psu wasnt good enough at max volume, just for reference my speakers are 50w rms. I now have a raspberry pi 5 (8gig), official touchscreen 2 (7inch) and using the same iqaudio digiamp+ and speakers with a new psu 12V 10A and once again powering only through the digiamp+. When I tried the first time and boot raspberry pi OS the screen flicked on for less than half a second, I saw the raspberry pi logo with some writing (orientation was wrong) but have since not seen it flick on again. The pi power light is green on start up for maybe 5 second but then goes solid red. With my old set up I've read not to power the pi and digiamp+ at the same time but now wondering if the same applies for the pi 5 as I've heard the pi 5 needs more power especially on boot. just to add my new psu barrel connector is the correct 5.5mm OD but incorrect ID at 2.1mm so I'm using an adaptor to go from 2.1mm to 2.5mm. I've tried my old psu but same thing, pi power light is green and then turns red. the only difference is with the old psu the pi power light slightly flickers while green and then red, just slightly dimming but noticeable. Does anyone have any recommendations on why this is happening and any fixes i can do. Is my new power supply to weak? just to add as well I don't have the official usbc power supply for the pi 5 as I thought I wouldn't need it.
