Guys,
Been a bit busy and got behind with my printed copies of the Official Magazine. Having struggled through the Christmas edition (160) I move on to the January 2026 (161) edition and start reading about the new "Raspberry Pi Imager 2.0". Struggling to read the text I get to the bit describing the work done to get the colour contrast and background to work in all situations.
"Well, well" I thought. That is why I'm struggling to read my Official Magazine. I have already tried more light and could now be consuming more power to illuminate my Magazine than when using my tablet. I am in my seventies and prefer reading from paper than a screen. Turns out what I need to read the Official Magazine is not more light that only serves to overwhelm my eyes but more and darker ink to make the text stand out enough to be readable on the white page.
I'm guessing anyone that's read this far is screaming "Well go read the download then". Hmmm. If everyone reads the download who funds the Official Mazazine? Actually I've always found scanning through PDFs for useful stuff far harder than scanning paper. As I've already said, I'm in my seventies and more likely to want to read stuff "the old fashioned way". Having piles of paper also makes it far easier to go find useful stuff rather than trawl through countless anonymous PDFs.
Turns out the first paragraph of a topic is easy for me to read, it's in bold, but I crash and burn trying to follow through to the next paragraphs. I am also Dyslexic. I found this out when I was 57. This makes me very picky on what I choose to read. Sadly, this could include the Official Mazagine in all it's forms.
Please guys can us oldies have an Official Mazagine where the writing uses darker ink so we can read it?
