General discussion • Keyboard UK default doesn't change to US

Raspberry Pi5 desktop OS fresh install doesn't change keyboard set to US, but insists on typing as UK.
Settings in Panel -> Raspberry Pi icon -> Preferences -> Raspberry Pi Configuration -> Localisation -> Keyboard -> Set Keyboard -> Layout -> English (US) -> OK -> still types as English (UK).

Solution: Panel -> Raspberry Pi icon -> Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Keyboard -> Set Layout... -> Layout -> English (US) -> OK -> Type in the following box to test your keyboard settings -> works.
This seems to be the all powerful keyboard setting.
