Hi everyone,
I want to use my Raspberry Pi as a capture device for my old camcorder. The camcorder only has composite AV output, so I’m planning to connect it through a USB video grabber (e.g. EasyCAP/UTV007 type device).
What I’d like to do is set up the Pi so that every time it powers on, it automatically starts recording the video feed from the camcorder and saves it to a connected USB stick or external drive — without needing to plug in a monitor, keyboard, or manually run commands.
Is this possible on a Raspberry Pi? If so, what’s the best way to set it up (e.g. using ffmpeg or another tool, systemd service, etc.)? If it’s not practical, what would be the recommended alternative to achieve the same thing?
Thanks in advance!
