Hi Folks!
Need a bit of hand-holding please. I’m trying to get Kaffeine to work on a Raspberry Pi, using Bookworm and Wayland. I need Wayland to use the external WiFi antenna: signal issues with the internal antenna.
The visual problem is I’ll either get a black (television) screen or the first frame of the programme, then just sits there. Error messages seem to be:but other messages indicate otherwise (the tuner has been found), just wants to play hide and go seek. Or maybe the data isn’t finding a ‘valid device’; I did some Googling of the error messages but the answer is playing hide and go seek with me.
The tuner is a Hauppauge HVR-955Q; I did install v4l-cx231xx-avcore-01.fw to /lib/firmware.
snap kaffeine-player –edge (there are supposed to be two hyphens before ‘edge’) – that installation didn’t work at all. I followed the instructions at https://snapcraft.io/kaffeine-player; I couldn’t get to load, neither via Applications nor Terminal. Removed/uninstalled.
Install: sudo apt-get install kaffeine
Installation and configuration went fine. I’ve used Kaffeine on other Raspberry Pi 4’s, with Bookworm, just not with Wayland, but as I said I need Wayland for the external WiFi dongle (it definitely doesn’t work wth X11).
VLC does display videos with mpg, flv and ts formats.
I’ve posted ‘some’ notes/logs at https://app.box.com/s/crvn1rbcwigfjgbfe1e4l23mjb4z2t5p
– I don’t think the Powers That Be would be too happy if I posted the 15 pages! Both files are the same, one in LibreOffice format and the other PDF.
Thanks for helping!
Barry
