Advanced users • Does writing a new OS to the SD card rewrite the EEPROM on first boot?

Hello, I have a few questions regarding my Raspberry Pi 400.

1. Question in title.
2. I’ve updated my EEPROM with rpi-eeprom-update. Is the previous version of EEPROM persisted somewhere in the file system?
3. Does running rpi-eeprom-update do the same procedures as the EEPROM recovery image?
